Cardmaking with Cricut: Flower Petals

What is more lovely than a flower? And what says I appreciate you better? Flowers will always be popular motifs to use on cards and it is small wonder considering the beauty that they bring to the world. In today's blog, I continue with the range of cards that I am making using shapes cut with my Cricut Expressions 2 machine. This time we compile a flower from a number of petals and circles.

This was the layout that I selected to cut on the Cricut Expressions 2 cutting machine.

I cut the first sheet of 12" x 12" paper.

Carefully lift the extra paper away and/or remove the cutouts from the cutting mat.

I then cut the second sheet of paper.

This is what the designs look like when the extra paper is removed.

The third sheet of paper was fed into the Cricut.

The last sheet of paper was also cut.

When I was done, this was what my collection of cutouts looked like.

For this card, I use purple cardboard to serve as the card, and a piece of leftover green paper to serve as matting.

Fold the cardboard in half to form a card.

Trim the paper to the required size to serve as matting.

Stick the first layer of petals to each other with double-sided tape. Do not stick it down on the matting yet.

Stick the bottom layer of petals down and then stick everything to the matting.

Glue the center of the flower to the matting.

Turn the matting over and trim the uneven ends of the petals away.

Use double-sided tape to stick a length of ribbon down the side of the matting.

Place evenly spaced glue dots down the ribbon.

Stick tiny fabric hearts to the ribbon.

The card is now ready to be handed to someone special, after an appreciative message has been added to the inside.
