Sewing a Short-Sleeved Jacket

Today we are going to sew a fun summer jacket with short sleeves. I used an older Simplicity pattern, from my pattern box to cut the jacket and then adjusted the sleeve length. I show you how to do this in today's blog.

This is the pattern and fabric I have used to sew the jacket.

I ironed stiffening onto all of the facings.

I pinned the darts.

I sewed and ironed the darts flat.

Pin the front panels to the back at the shoulders and sew.

Pin the front facings to the back and sew.

Pin the facings to the front and back panels and sew.

Notch the facings and turn them right side out. Iron flat.

Pin the sleeves to the arm openings and sew.

Pin the sleeves and sides, before sewing straight through from top to bottom.

Pin and sew the hem of the jacket.

Pin and sew the hems of the sleeves.

Mark the buttonholes and sew the buttonholes.

Sew the buttons on.

The completed jacket.
