Sew Wide-Bottomed Pants

I don't really have the length for wide-bottomed pants, but I do like the idea of them. And as I am not forking out a fortune to buy them, and will rather be making them myself, I decided to include a pair of wide-bottomed pants in my latest mix and match collection. I show you how to make these in today's blog.

I opted for this bicycle print fabric as I thought it would go well with the florals I was already using in this collection.

Reinforce the waistband with stiffening/vilene. Fold the waistband and pin the sides.

Sew the sides.

Notch the one end. Turn right side out and iron flat.

Pin the front crotch together.

Sew the front crotch. Do the same with the back crotch.

Pin the pockets to the side seams.

Pin the zipper to the centre back seam.

Sew the zipper into the centre back seam.

Open the seam over the zipper.

Mark the buttonhole.

Sew the buttonhole.

Open the buttonhole.

Sew the button onto the other end of the waistband.

Lay the front and back on top of each other with right sides facing. Pin the pockets and down the side seam of the pant legs.

Sew all around the pockets and down the side seams.

Pin the crotch at the centre. Now pin all the way down the inner seam of both legs.

Sew the pinned inner leg seam.

Pin the waistband to the pants.

Sew the waistband to the pants.

Fold a rolled hem and pin it.

Hem the pants.
