Art Journal: Big Fish

How often do we find ourselves in trouble of our own making, and then we cry out to God for help, expecting Him to simply step in and save us now that we find ourselves in deep water. The thing is, He does. He helps us out more often than we can imagine. For, we tend to forget His grace as soon as things return to normal again. In today's art journal entry I allow my thoughts to wander about this topic.

I start the journal entry on black paper with a white pencil.

I draw a big fish (whale) over the two pages in white pencil. Then I do my journaling with a silver pencil:
"Being inside the tummy of a BIG FISH is not comfortable, but it still means God cares enough to save you from your own STUPIDITY." The theme of my journaling relies heavily on a knowledge of the story of Jonah in the Bible.

I colour the fish in soft pastels and a charcoal pencil.

The sea is also painted in soft pastels.

I prevent the picture from smudging by spraying it with Artist's Fixative.

The completed layout.
