Sewing Pajamas Part 1 of 2 - The Pants

Today I will show you how to sew yourself a comfy pair flannel pajamas. The pants are some of the easiest bottoms you'll ever sew and the top gets slightly more difficult as it requires more detail. We'll kick it off with the pants today and work our way through to the top. Don't fret. The step by step directions will make both items easy as pie to sew yourself.

This is the pattern I will be using for my own pajamas.

I lay the pants out on red flannel cloth, as well as the pocket, collar and cuffs for the top.

The top is laid out on white flannel cloth.

I need to refold the fabric to fit the sleeves and the neck facing in.

Only the collar needs to be cut from interfacing.

Pin the front and back crotches together on the pants.

Sew the crotches.

Pin the inner seams for the legs. Start at the cross at the crotch and pin down to the hems on both legs.

Starting at the hem of one leg, sew all the way through the crotch and down to the hem of the other leg.

Double roll the hems of the legs and pin.

Sew the hems.

Double roll a wide seam at the waist.

Sew, leaving a small opening for the elastic.

Thread the elastic through the waist.

Sew the ends of the elastic together.

Close the opening at the waist.

The pants are now finished and in the next blog I will show you how to make the top.
