Cardmaking with Cricut: Hearts

I am still using a range of cutouts, that I have cut with my Cricut Expressions 2 cutting machine, to make a series of cards. I rather fancied the idea of using hearts and played around with the pre-cut hearts. The result is a very simple and stylish, yet playful card that can be used for any occasion.

This was the layout that I selected to cut on the Cricut Expressions 2 cutting machine.

I cut the first sheet of 12" x 12" paper.

Carefully lift the extra paper away and/or remove the cutouts from the cutting mat.

I then cut the second sheet of paper.

This is what the designs look like when the extra paper is removed.

The third sheet of paper was fed into the Cricut.

The last sheet of paper was also cut.

When I was done, this was what my collection of cutouts looked like.

For this card I use a sheet of pink cardboard and a sheet of green paper to use as matting.

I fold the cardboard in half to serve as a card.

I trim the paper to the correct size to serve as matting.

I then use the cutout hearts, matching them with alternate coloured cutout frames.

I use double-sided tape to stick these hearts and frames to the matting. Note the overlap and how the hearts run off the matting on both ends.

I then use double-sided tape to stick two lengths of ribbon to the matting.

The ribbon is folded in at the back for a tidy finish.

The matting is then stuck to the card and the project is finished.
